Get Involved

“Once we start to act, hope is everywhere. So instead of looking for hope, look for action.”

- Greta Thunberg, November 2018

Climate change is happening now and it’s happening fast. We need to act NOW.

One in four species on earth is currently at risk of extinction. We need to act now to stop this destruction of the beautiful life-giving world God created. Change must happen at every level - global, national, corporate and personal. How do we respond as churches, as people of faith and hope?

My Lifestyle

We are not going to avert the crisis by eating less meat and taking the train – but we have to start somewhere!

Suggestions and resources for each of us.

Our Church

We want to reach out and care for young people, who are increasingly disturbed by eco-anxiety. Let’s show them we care about God’s world and their future. Get involved with climate strikes. Get registered with Eco Church and transform our buildings, our land, our people. Let’s take care of God’s garden as he entrusted us at the very beginning.

Your Community

Get involved in local organisations that are aiming to make a difference. Many of these organisations need enthusiastic people to join them - use your church contacts to help raise awareness and encourage people to give their time to help in your local community.

Influence

It’s big business and government which can make the changes needed. Politicians only act if the people want it – so influence everyone you can! Social media, letters, dinner parties… Start with friends, family, school, employers… then try local councillors, your MP, your bank, your pension fund manager…

Protest

When those in power aren’t making the necessary changes, we might need to lean on them harder. That’s where organisations like Extinction Rebellion come in.

Take to the streets, raising awareness and the urgency of our climate crisis.
