During the depression in the '30s the marchers came through Harpenden and St. Albans. My father in law, a union man, took shoes, clothing and food for the marchers and walked with them through the town.

During the war there was another war happening between Finland and Russia and the Fins were the victors. The Russians were, of course, busy with the World War at the time but this was an important war because that was how Finland got its independence.
